This is more like Marii or mushroom pleating which Mary McFadden used; however, it doesn't have as much "depth." Hers, even though polyester, had more texture in the pleats.
You could honestly describe it as Fortuny like and polyester. Claire
This is the website for the store where I bought my tango shoes:

My shoes are #206. They're really rather plain, but quite wearable for day and non-formal wear.
I was standing outside window shopping with no intention of buying...
My first thought was that the dress had been altered. The original had the hand overcasting and the alteration was pinked. This was before I read the costume angle. Claire
My experience with a graphic artist recently would lead me to believe that they not only have no artist talent and imagination but can't handle the equipment very well either. It was a nightmare. I'm still recovering. Claire
I went to the press preview for Superheroes yesterday at the Met. It is really interesting but not my favorite topic. That said the backdrops, design, etc. are truly breath taking. Many of the designs are sportswear, movie costumes and even haute couture. There were some extraordinary beaded...
Denise sent me her scarf and I compared the one I had with the new one.
My scarf has the same print but no Chanel Paris in the corner.
My scarf has the napkin edge finish and hers has a narrow machine (straight stitch) hem.
Does any one have an original in this print? I saw lots of...
I bought a wonderful Chanel blouse copy that just arrived. The fabric is printed with all the icons. Naturally it doesn't match at the center front and it has Celine buttons --back-to-back "Cs". Now I need to find a similar Chanel to make a comparison.
If you have any Chanel copies, please...
More about the Chanel copies and other scarf copies. My advice is to look at the hems first. If it's the real thing, it will have a hand-rolled hem.
Look carefully because there are some hemming machines that make a very good rolled, not hand, hem.
This scarf has a napkin edge. This is...
One identification would be the hem. If it is Chanel, it should be hand-rolled. It looks like a napkin machine edge .
If you think it's fake, I'm interested in buying. I've decided I should consider writing a book about how to determine fakes instead of a sewing book.
I'm off to Chicago...
I still have a variety of hats even though I rarely wear them. One of the things I learned in hatmaking was to make "stands" from 1 qt. plastic bottles like chlorox or starch (remember starch). Cut the bottle off so it will be tall enough so the brim won't rest on the shelf.
Place a little...
Several years ago, I met with Kerry Taylor (Sotheby's London). One of the things she told me was that where and how a label is sewn is one of the guides she uses.
With that in mind, I would photograph the label on the garment before sending it to the drycleaner. When it is returned, you have...
This is a very long review but the book sounds very interesting.

Ang,
I'm going to Berlin in July. I'm trying to arrange appt. at the Film Museum. Does anyone have any ideas about other costume museums in Berlin? Claire
This is a rtw jacket by Davidow. The trim is selvage. I'll look for the other photo.
