Good association, Carrie, as I forgot to note that this came from a January magazine, so we can assume it was a New Year's Eve dress. I would LOVE to find such a thing.
Good Thing It Wasn\'t the Year 2000
I don't know whether singer and actress Marion Hutton really wore this 1941 dress, but that would certainly be a short-lived fashion, wouldn't it?
As you probably discovered, there are millions of hits on "Sun Fashions," but so far I found one 1957 ad that says:
"I...just finished trying on some authentic Hawaiian fun clothes made in Honolulu...Seems to me the bracing warmth of the sun still lingers in these playtimers by SUN FASHIONS of...
Lord.
I read this to my husband and when I was done I turned to him and said "They don't sell McDonald's hamburgers in styrofoam boxes anymore?"
He just laughed and said I need to get out more.
I guess THAT'S old.
From what I can see, what you have appears to be a scarf. The fact that the Reboux name is partially lopped off at the top of the label seems odd to me, though.
I only skimmed quickly through this online book about fashion and it looks like light reading, but as the author worked as a sketcher in Parisian fashion houses in the late 1920s I think Fashion is Spinach might be a fun fashion read. Here is a summary of the author's fashion highlights...

The earliest references I found to American Tourister and Escort (and I don't know if this is the same Escort) was from 1961 to about 1970 when there was mention of American Tourister luggage and Escort hat boxes. I was not able to see the ads without paying for them, but the four references all...
A 1969 newspaper article about Vincent Mignon notes that he was the name that no one knew until the Nixons came along. The Nixon women, it noted, "...relied quite heavily on Mr. Mignon in the pre-Inaugural period." It further notes that Vincent and his brother John started the business with...
A 1989 Lord & Taylor ad invited readers to "Join us in welcoming Vincent Mignon, of Mignon Dresses, as he presents their magnificent collection of exquisite evening fashions."
--A 1966 newspaper mentions that Lester Paul was a misses' suits and ensembles division of the clothing manufacturer Lorch Westway Corporation.
--The Lester Paul trademark registration was filed in December 1964.
--Although there seem to have been Lorch Westway plants in diverse cities, it...
