You are most welcome! I'm very glad to hear the sale went well. Please do come back with more questions!

I see early 80s.
It's an early version of the iron care symbol, which you wouldn't see in the 1990s.
BTW, a zip from the 1940s would have metal teeth, not just a metal pull. Many modern zips have metal pulls.
The distinegrating stuff in your shoulder pads was probably foam, which again you...
Hi SilverHelix
It does look 60s to me, but suggest you wait to hear from others too.
Your image link wasn't working, so I removed it. (it was also showing a vintage selling site, which is against our forum rules.) If you need help on how to link to images, see this thread...
Just to be clear, I have seen this particular popper in the oval setting, on 70s bags, and also into the 80s, (it is an oval popper, right? Just realised the photo is at an angle so I can't be sure). I also associate that particular kind of adjustable strap with the 70s. I haven't seen either...
Certainly a print on a plain weave. The uneven widths of the yarn suggest linen to me, but it could equally be a blend or something else altogether. A fibre test is the best bet.
From the close up it looks more like a print on a plain weave to me? And the photo reads like a natural fibre, cotton, linen or even fine wool, but that's really difficult to be sure of from a photo - as Nicole says a burn test will help you determine the fibre content.
It's still a fabulous gown, and I can see why you thought as you did. Thanks for sharing it.
We also don't have a copy of that label in our Label Resource, and I'm sure we would love to have it. If you want to submit it, you can add an image of it this thread...
Yes, I did see that, but that advert isn't referring to the 'Speciality Gowns Department" - you are trying to put two things together that aren't necessarily connected.
They did make historical costumes, but that isn't what the 'speciality department' means. Therefore even though they made...
I've found a magazine advert via google books - you can't see the whole thing, but the text reads
"Harvey Nichols have opened a new “ Speciality Gown ” Department, where you will always find the frock for special occasions— the “frock with a difference."...
What a fanastic dress, and that's an interesting label from Harvey Nics.
I wonder exactly what was meant by 'speciality' in this context, and in those days. I also don't think it necessarily means 'costume' (in the modern sense) or masquerade wear. Your advert for the speciality gowns...
Your problem is not really a problem. The companies who do prescription will also do non-prescription lenses for sunglasses. It's the same process. They start from around £20 in the uk, inc postage.
I don't think you need to a specialised company that caters for vintage frames, just a company that does normal spectacles and has a good reputation. You can mention that they are old frames and see what they say. That's what I did. The process is the same whether vintage or modern frames, you...
There are lots of companies who do this.
You don't say where you are, but search online for "Reglaze spectacles" or "reglaze glasses". Most companies are catering for prescription lenses, but will do usually plain non-prescription lenses too, including sunglasses. You can get them done through...
another reference from 1968:

Yes, though they seem to be more of a rarity.
I did some sleuthing and found the following:
This tie, states 'Terylene warp Crimplene weft', on the label;

Two crimplene...
My first thought is that this could be African, but that's not an area of clothing I'm very familiar with, so I may be way off. If you look at "African peplum dress" on google images, you see some similar styles. If so, it may be quite modern. Someone else may know whether that could be an...
The bust treatment is quite special. And it looks like cotton? which some people will search for too. Was it a larger size? That can make all the difference. But sometimes there's no figuring out why one thing goes nuts and another doesn't.
