Hi everyone! I'm Sandra Mendoza. I've corresponded with some of you many times. I am a complete and utter newbie so please excuse me as I figure this all out. I chose Alix Gres because I actually found a Gres skirt, the modern label, and while doing my own research, I found her quite...
I would take it off the tripod to get close enough to the detail on the garment. When I zoomed in, with the macro setting, it would get all blurry. but maybe my problem is not zooming, it's my macro setting. Hmmm, going to play with my camera!
I too invested in a tripod, and boy does it help! the only problem I have is when I have to take very close up pictures I have to remove the camera from the tripod and then we're back to square one, fuzzy pics. I've tried using the zoom, but with the macro feature, the pics come out blurry.
Well I have been experimenting with lighting, which I know you will cover later. I think maybe after this workshop, if I am still not happy with my pics, I might consider upgrading. but would going to a 3 megapixel camera just give me more memory? Or would it give me crisper pics? What would...
Two questions for me.
1. I have a Nikon coolpix, It has 2.0 Megapixels. I know you said 3 is better. Should I start thinking about upgrading? I definately want that professional look.
2. 72 dpi? When I go to save for the web in Photoshop, I always make sure my pics are less than 50K...
Spending so much time in the "rockabilly world" I never knew much about Mod other than I knew it when I saw it. THANK YOU Senti for such an awesome workshop. I learned so much, I went back to my store and revamped the description of a Mod crochet dress I have listed. I also included the...
I have a few reasons I kind of don't agree Paula. and maybe my thinking is totally wrong. first, the chain, it looks older than 60's. also, the clasp, i have seen only one other clasp like this and it was on a celluloid necklace. but also, the black beads. they smell the same way the white...
Wowweeeee!!! Score, and I LOVE your husband. I found me a good one too. man that is. He helps me scour. He helped me scour the dumpster for a dress I thought i threw out. Aw, love!
But about the Hermes, i could see that in a totally tailored ensemble, or casual with some well worn jeans...
Thanks Barbara. This was exactly why i was so afraid to try the hot pin test. I have never done it out of fear. I think curiosity got the best of me. I emailed a woman who deals in plastics and has written a book. I will leave her name out. She replied that she doesn't think this is...
Uereka!!! I found it! This necklace is...drumm roll please...

Thanks everyone!

I think when you have a name like Lilli Ann, any time of year is good. I just saw a closed listing for a croc bag for around $180.00. You bid on those when you can because they are so desirable.
But I think you are right. People are selling sweaters left and right. It's 95 in my neck of...
I had one very similar to this but all black. I think this is a coat that goes over a dress. Mine had a matching dress. I wish i had pics. The dress would've been just a smidge shorter with the same detail in the back.
Sandra
the darker coloring is on some of the white beads. It is faint black. Is it a problem that the chain is metal? Could that be causing the dark coloring?
Also, some of the white beads are starting to get a dark color, like they have been stained with black or something. Does this mean they are "sick"?
Sandra
Thanks Patti! I was afraid of trying the hot pin test, but I am pretty confident with your identification. Now, what age? I'm thinking 20s or 30s because of the length. It falls to about the bust line. Am I right?

Ok, I took some quick pics. According to a book I have, this would be celuloid. But I have always thought celluloid was light and delicate. this necklace the chunky sound of bakelite, resembles a bakelite smell, although it smells a little fishy, if that makes any sense. I know, I know, ew...
I bought a necklace today. I saw one similar to it in a collectible plastic jewelry book. The clasp is also plastic. I ran it under hot water, and it did have a chemically smell, but not that of bakelite. Does celluloid also have a smell?

Well I have added a "designer" and "trends" department to my Babylon site. I've sold one thing, a pair of Charles Jourdan heels. But I like Lizzie's approach. I need to learn to leave "just cute " things behind that won't fit me and might be a gamble on eBay and stick to sure bets.

ohhh. I thought it was too late to preview stuff. Ooops. duh! Here you go...
