Ok, I have to get better about posting scrumptious finds and news on here. I was twittering about this last week! I'll have to go find everyone's Twitter accounts and also reach you there. Isn't the collection stunning?
I don't believe Resurrection is part of 1stdibs. They just like to...
She is Ruben Toledo designed mannequin for Ralph Pucci, who I just learned, is known for his display fixtures. She's huge and heavy. I love her abstract body. Her hand are like fins. She is not the most practical mannequin, but I love the way she looks.
What should I name her? She needs an...
Here's the dress. It's jet black so I put it in direct sunlight so you can see details. Sorry for the quick and dirty pictures. the buttons are working buttons, not decorative. I'm thinking very late 1960s to early 1970s? The zipper is nylon.
Duh Sandra, do some research!
"Victor Joris, the creative talent behind Cuddlecoat, actually won the Coty Fashion Critics Award in 1969."

Does anybody have any information on a designer named Victor Joris? I have a beautifully constructed, complete with hand stitched lining, wool dress by Victor Joris for I. Magnin.
I'll take a pic of the label and dress.
I forgot to tell you that I placed a link on Susie Bubble's blog as well! Maybe you are getting hits from there!! She mentioned Shrimpton Couture's RSVP line so I thought I'd plug you.
I also will be writing about your eCouture collection this week. Sorry for the delay. I got back logged.
Hollis,
great minds think alike. I'm currently pitching an article to several of the fashion magazines on how to protect yourself when shopping for vintage. Excellent blog post. I'll reference it on my blog.

It looks like there has been an alteration to the straps. The buttons don't look nice enough and the ends look cut. Also the label is in the front, right between the boobs. Does this sound right? I'll take pics this evening.
Went to the Rose Bowl today. Found a very glamorous velvet swimsuit with an Estevez label but can't find any other examples of Estevez swimsuits. Is this a case of label swapping?!
Correct, Lucite is a name of a plastic. It is much more affordable and lighter than Bakelite. I don't believe Lucite has any distinguishing smells like Bakelite, Celluloid and Galalith does.
Sandra
Ang,
thanks!
I also think it's fantastic she is bringing vintage fashion to CFDA. So many designers fail to either look at fashion history, or worst, acknowledge the influence. Some just rip it off. These are very exciting times in vintage fashion.
Now I'm wondering if it is time to put my...
By the way Ang, would it be ok to mention you and your dress on my blog? I just interviewed Carole Tanenbaum, who sold the First Lady the Victorian brooch she wore on inauguration day. I would love to talk about this as a follow up.
Ang,
I am so excited for you! Are you on cloud 9? I would be! What an honor. I really admire Tracey Ullman. She's the whole package - brains, humor.
I'm equally excited about the major play vintage and Claire MCardell will get.
It was me who brought that up! :beach:
A reader sent in a question about this line from this movie. She was curious what the big scandal was about bows on shoes and zippers. I assumed the same thing about zippers. I thought it was easy access
As I am starting to sell on a more frequent basis online, I am struggling with a proper work space to take pictures. I like taking advantage of sunlight, but would prefer to have a dedicated space for lit shots.
Thanks for the compliment Kristine. I know if you guys approve, it must be good...
