Hi Nicole & amigo & Thank you both.
I'm not sure of the date. Most likely 90's to rather current.
I "brought" it over here as a favor to a CAB member.
Heat process sounds about right. Just wish there was a "term" that sounded more artsy. LOL
It isn't vintage. That's why I posted it over here by the water cooler.
The design isn't in the weave, it's pressed or pinched into the fabric itself.
Silk charmeuse with a raised pattern that looks like stylized leaves.
I hope the detail will show up okay.
I should know this stuff...
If any of you are interested, I can get us ad space in the print Jazz Fest Edition (Jazz Fest Bible) of Offbeat Magazine in NOLA. Just got an email from the editor.
All on the same page with a banner at the top of the page that will say "Buy Vintage" or whatever we decide.
Biz card sized...
Thanks!
I like Rouleaux, but it also is the definition for a blood disease. LOL
I just thought there was a specific term for the piping or cording when it makes a design like that.
I know there's a specific term for it.
It's fabric covered cord, but ...
Also - anyone have any links to help id these kinds of trim / details?
Thanks in advance!
It's listed as 50's.
I forgot to add the pic of the pinked seams. It does have very narrow seams at the waist. It really looks just like joules' blue one but for the blue print on my label.
Ahhh - Celanese. More editing fixin' to happen.
Thanks, wire9.
She IS listing! LOL We even put a shim under her stand.
Aw well - maybe I'll just change her name from Mz Thang to Mz Tipsie. ;-)
I'll apologize in advance for this large pic, but can y'all see the detail okay in it? THX!
Thanks so much, everyone!
The yellow nylon I will list as 70's. It has a really poorly made label. The ink has smudged a teensy bit onto the slip & I'm hoping I can get that out. Otherwise, I'll list it for less.
The red taffeta one is awesome! I'll go with 50's on it, but am still a bit...
Thanks so much, Mary Jane.
I think late 60's on the yellow, though, don't you? I searched Caprolan on etsy & ebay, but now will google it. I *think* The Allied Chemical Co. had a plant in Dunbar, WV in the 70's, but don't know what they manufactured there.
I need to tweek the red one's...
Okay.
(joules) has a snip it slip on etsy that looks like this exact style.
There are more snip it slips there, too. BUT - the labels in all I've seen are beige lettering on white.
hmmmmmm ?
I'm getting ready to list these, but need a bit of date help, pretty please.
Thanks in advance for your help.
1st is a NOS Butter Yellow Nylon by Movie Star.
70's? Or New-ish?
2nd is a fab red taffeta one that I think could easily be worn as a dress.
Could...
I think it's pretty. Why not try to list it for the Prom season & see how it goes? If it were me, I don't even think I'd use the date...maybe. It S very much the Fairy Princess dress & I think a lot of teenage girls are still drawn to that.
Love the color.
I'd show it with a clear or cream...
Still scratching my head. Yes, Deborah did sum it up well.
My listing looked really nice, too & I think just by looking at the pics (since deleted) that mine was in better condition. It wasn't as large - mine was a true medium (8/10 today).
I'm still in the "ya just never know" box.
No worries - I've been "called" worse. ;-)
And thanks for the logo compliment. It was modelled after my dear lil kitty mz_bunny.
She's gone, but the logo will stay forever!
Sorta OT: What\'s so Special about this sweater?
eBay item 230447975374. Sorry I can't link to it.
I just sold a Penrose cardi that was in better shape about a month ago for like $25 or $30.
I don't get it..?
