The stones in the brooch, while very nice quality and sparkly are not fine jewels - they are rhinestones - also called "glass" or "crystal". Cup is the correct word. I suggest doing a search for Rhinestone history and you will see that simulated/imitation gem stones go back a very long way...

IMO both the piece with the green stone and the purple stone are Arts & Crafts and the one with the blue stone is Edwardian - or as you suggest, it could be a bit later - early Art Deco which came right after Edwardian. Art Nouveau is much more asymmetrical and floral and more "fluid."
