    Lanvin Castillo Gown

What a beautiful gown! The label looks like the same one we have in the VFG Label resource for a gown dated 1955. https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/lanvin-jeanne/ I agree with you that the gown looks late '50s. early '60s.

    Vintage Dior dress

The symbol doesn't look like copyright symbol - © to me. It looks like the Registration Trademark ® to me. The fabric and colors looks C 1960s to me, but the dress looks very, very short - like it might be a top rather than a dress - but that may just be the angle from which the photo was...

Can someone please help me date this Burberry trenchcoat?

This is the information from the VFG Label Resource on Burberrys': https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/burberrys/ John M. - you are correct that Burberry dropped the "s" around 1998.

    Fabric Friday: Barkcloth

Thank you, Maggie - Really informative as always! Living here in Hawaii, I have seen a lot of Tapa and a lot of original vintage bark cloth - mostly on older rattan furniture. I posted on a thread a few years ago about Full Swing, a fabric house that sold to the Interior Design trade that...

    Help dating a Cheongsam

Based on the fabric and the use of the zipper, I think your qipao or cheongsam is from the late 1940s. It looks homemade to me. We have discussed this topic a few times - and as Maggie mentioned they are hard to date, but there are some things that you can look at. This is a previous...

Do you know this jewelry brand? (crown logo)

It's not Trifari. You can see the Trifari crown in the middle of this late 1949 ad: And a slightly earlier version on this pair of late 1930s earrings:

Need help with an unsigned brooch please!

The stones in the brooch, while very nice quality and sparkly are not fine jewels - they are rhinestones - also called "glass" or "crystal". Cup is the correct word. I suggest doing a search for Rhinestone history and you will see that simulated/imitation gem stones go back a very long way...

Need help with an unsigned brooch please!

I have been looking at this brooch off and on since you posted it and am sorry but I do not recognize it. I don't think it is from the 1930s - the design and color combination, and combination of shapes of stones looks more 1950s to me. I don't think it is Czech - but of course it could be...

Help needed dating velvet or velour evening dress

The Union label in the gown was used from 1974-1995: https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/union-label/ It's possible, since you say it was altered, that the metal zipper is a replacement, and whoever did the alterations used what they had available.

Possible 40s or 50s dress. No zipper

Your dress looks like a '50s dress to me. It doesn't need a zipper since it buttons. The buttons look like Mother of Pearl. What is the length of the skirt? Zippers were not common in women's clothing until the late 1930s and were then used again after WWII. (Zippers were not used during...

    Nordstrom hang tag

Actually, Tahari started in 1974 - and so did the barcode! Is that a skirt, a skort or shorts on the hanger? I don't remember early - mid-'70s long coats and short skirts but that doesn't mean anything, and of course it could be more recent. Are there any more labels and/or a care...

Jewelry help please: Edwardian? 20s? 30s? brooches

IMO both the piece with the green stone and the purple stone are Arts & Crafts and the one with the blue stone is Edwardian - or as you suggest, it could be a bit later - early Art Deco which came right after Edwardian. Art Nouveau is much more asymmetrical and floral and more "fluid."

Anyone know anything about Karlinda? And what era for this gorgeous coat?

Great coat! It looks mid-'60s to me. The article you posted says that one of the sons, Stanley, joined the tailoring business, so perhaps the Karlinda line lasted for a few years (or more) after his father's death (in 1963.). I just did a search and was surprised to learn that resealable...
