I agree, the style of the dress looks very 1940s, especially with that sweetheart neckline. Rayon was very popular in the 40s too. I am not sure about the slip.
You could do a burn test to see if it is silk by snipping off a tiny piece of fringe, if it is silk it will smell like burning hair. But also rayon was used in the 30s too.
Hi, I don't think it is antique but I would want it to be at least vintage. I don't think I want to purchase shawls anymore, unless I know for certain of its age.
I am not a expert on fur but the style looks older to me, maybe 20s-30s? I found a Sears Roebuck ad of a seal cape for 4.95 from 1898. But this one had fluffy fur border.
Thanks for your response. I think it is nylon, I do not think it is cotton, it is definitely not silk. Yeah it has a hood and a extra hole for a bun. I believe is a veil.
Can somebody give me a opinion of the lace on this mantilla? What era do you think it came from and what type of lace it is? The lace has a netted texture. I am researching and it kind of looks like Chantilly lace?
Thanks for your response. I think the filigree looks cast and the necklace does have some weight. The first picture is the back of it and the last pic is the front.
Thanks for the responses. I am very clueless when it comes to jewelry. Good thing I did not pay much for it. Do you think it could be at least vintage maybe 60s?
Does anybody have any idea how old this necklace might be? I believe it is made of brass. The lady I bought it from told me it is Victorian but I want a second opinion.
Does anybody know what decade these type of rayon ribbon shawls really came from or when they were popular? I have seen people list them as 1920s all the way to 1970s. I am very confused.
Can somebody give me a idea how old this ribbon garter belt might be? I believe the ribbon is rayon. I know that ribbon lingerie was popular in the 20s and it kind of looks like the style but I do not think it is that old. I am guessing 1940s-50s.
