Hello!
I ran across this lovely gown and, although it has holes in the silk skirt , I loved the bodice and hope someone can repurpose it. The embroidery thread is made of a silver metallic material wrapped around what seems like silk thread or floss. Is there a name for this type of metallic...
Hello!
I have what I believe is a very old frock coat that is part of a Knights Templar uniform. I thought it was from 1920 - 1930. There is a label in the chest pocket that gives a date of 2/19-7. I do not know what the dash stands for. Can you enlighten me?
Thank you!
Hi All,
I would like your opinion on the age of this brooch. The white sequins are not faceted. The rhinestones are secured with black prongs. It measures 4" x 4".
Thanks!
Hello again! I apologize for utilizing your help so much in the past few weeks. I have run across some items that are either older than I usually find or items that I have not seen before. I truly appreciate all of your help.
This dress was laying on a chair in an antique mall that I was...
This is an interesting brooch. It is marked Made in Mexico and Sterling on the back. It would seem to be depicting an Aztec or Mayan warrior. Any idea as to age?
Thank you!
Hi,
I am wondering if these earrings are made of a special kind of material other than plastic. Bakelite?
They were in the box when I purchased them but I don't know if that is the original box - I would doubt it.
I have acquired a bit of vintage jewelry and am still learning..
Thank you!
One more to ask about -
What do you think the age is of this pin? And, do you think the symbols are Mayan, or could this be an Egyptian revival piece from the 20s?
Thanks!
This is a really cute little box styled like a book. It opens up with a hinge. I believe it is Mexican silver. Any idea of the age or the intended use? I thought perhaps it was for keeping pills. It measures 1.5" long, 1" wide, and .5" deep.
Thanks!
I bought this at an estate sale last week because it was so unusual. It looks like it's made of pieces of bone. Anyone have any information about bone necklaces? Any ideas about type of bone this is? It looks to me like the oval pieces could be vertebrae?
Thanks!
Hello All,
I wonder about this hat..... it almost looks to me like it could have been made for a costume. Any ideas on age? Would it be called a bonnet? Thank you!
Hello!
I wondered if you could help me date this jacket. It think it's made of wool, but I'm not sure. - it has a nap and it's running down, so if you run your hand up toward the collar it feels rough. It has a very soft hand. It it fully lined and has shoulder pads inside the lining. There...
Hello! I recently acquired two of these dresses - one black and one red. I am wondering how to describe the lace. It feels very soft, like wool or cashmere (is it possible it may be cashmere?). The backing is silk tulle. Would I be correct dating the dress from the 1950s?
Hello All,
Van you help me pin point a date for this blouse? Also, what would the collar "stay" have been called? I am picturing the one that has come unattached at the bottom.
Thank you!
Is this a slip or a dress? I found it at an estate sale next to a 1940s eyelet wedding dress and originally thought it was meant to be worn under it but now I don't think so. Any ideas?
Hello,
I recently purchased this shawl at an estate sale. It is very beautiful and in excellent condition. I think the black fabric is rayon. Do you have an opinion as to age? I have pictured the embroidery on the right side and wrong side.
Thank you!
Hi Everyone,
At the same estate sale where I found the 1920s dresses I purchased this wedding gown. I need help in dating it and in describing it if there are any particular details or terms that are specific to this type of wedding dress or the era. It's made of silk and has an underskirt...
I bought a few dresses as an estate sale Saturday and most of them I can quickly identify as 1920s. This one looks a bit older to me. What is your opinion?
Thank you!
Hello!
I have a wonderful hat that I need help dating. I feel that it is from the 1940s but want to get your opinion. The maker is Gage Brother & Co. Also, is there a term for this type of hat? Is it a picture hat or is there a more accurate name for this style?
Thank you as always!
Hi All,
I found this adorable bag at an estate sale. I am thinking 1950s, but I would like your opinion. The name on the mirror is Pallizzio. Thank you!
Hi All,
I have a Catalina Masterpiece swimsuit and I feel pretty certain it's made of silk. I don't think I've ever seen a silk swimsuit. How common were these suits? Is it possible to actually swim in them?
Hello,
I would love your opinion on the date of this dress. It's made of what seems to be embroidered silk organza. There are tiny mother of pearl buttons down the back. It came with the tulle juliet cap veil and also came with detached sleeves, gauntlet style, which can be slipped on if...
