It's hard to say for sure without seeing things up close - but possibly early 70s?
Do you have any pics of the buttons? Esp the gold ones...
Also - again, I really can't tell from here... but - are you sure the two pieces are meant to go together? It looks like they're different patterns/colors...
While doing research on this label, I noticed we didn't have this very Deco-ish looking version of a 1970s Cathy Hardwick tag...

Thank you, Kristine!
Great information, Jim!
I went down a LEVI's dating rabbit-hole a few months ago trying to pinpoint the age of a few pairs of more recent vintage Levi's women's jeans (not that my customers *really* care if they're 80s, 90s or Y2k... but dang it, *I DO!*) - and it's crazy all the little details...
I suppose it could also have been for a beeper :)
But yeah - they sure did like making special pockets for phones in the late 90s/early 00s. I'm always seeing purses from that time with similar pockets. At least it helps with dating!
Unfortunately, we sell a LOT of 90s/Y2k stuff lately. Not really my thing, but we have a college nearby so I pick up the more iconic stuff when I find it - and lately I've been letting one of my employees sell stuff on consignment - she's kicking ass with those eras right now. I kinda hate...
Thanks for the link - I needed that reminder to check up on how it's doing.
I had been in contact with them and had hoped to have several items in this sale, but missed the deadline. Apparently there's another one in May - so I may do that. I have a Printemps 1956 Dior and several other items...
How interesting - I don't think I've ever even *heard* of zalando here in the US.
I always have mixed feelings about Amazon, which is obviously super easy and usually crazy fast - when I do use them (which is really too often) I try to buy from individual sellers (instead of the ones "fulfilled...
Ohhh we sold quite a lot to that show! The costume designer, Lou Eyrich, is super nice. She's better known for her work on American Horror Story (which we also worked on several seasons of) and Glee, among others. We actually only get thru half the series and then lost all our DVR'd shows... I...
Haha sounds like MY house before we opened the shops!!
I am fine with whatever works for you - I can make it happen. I figure easiest to come out and meet with you first, at your convenience, so we can get an idea of how much we're looking at... what size truck is needed... how much help we'll...
Hi - I'm in Orange, not far from Long Beach. I'm happy to meet up with you and can have this taken care of early this week - I also have the available space to store it, which I know most people don't lol. Feel free to email me directly - elsewherevintage (at) gmail (I also sent my private...
Betsey Johnson reissued "Vintage" punk label
Most of the items I'm finding with this label have similar motifs - a long sweater (or ULTRA mini MINI dress!) in yellow knit with black & redintarsia Devil head - with a very 90's feel... but based on the content/care tag, as well as the use of the...
Although the spot treatment can be useful, I find that for the items that I can't justify paying for actual dry cleaning do pretty well tossed in the dryer with several dryer sheets sprayed down with an unscented (or scented, if you prefer - but many customers don't) odor remover and air tumble...
Most of the Cool Ray Polaroid Sunglasses I've seen have been 1960s. Like Mary, these initially gave me an 80's vibe - but I don't know if they were still making sunglasses in the 80s. If someone told me these were 1960s, I'd believe that, too -- so I'd say go with 1960s when listing.
If I had...
I didn't see this version in the resource - I love that they dated their items!! How considerate for us!! lol
This is a 1960 (!) white sleeveless linen sheath with an off-center colorblocked 5" stripe down the front - baby pink from neckline to waist & chartreuse green from waist to hem
Gah. I know the agony - I think I have several pairs in my basement with this issue. I did ask my shoe repair guy and he was like "NO WAY". Sounded like he'd have to literally take the whole boot apart and re-sew it back together. I can't imagine that would be worth it.
What I've discovered is...
I second (third? fourth?) the pencil & wax candle suggestions.
BUT -- with the recent popularity of visible metal zippers on modern dresses, I've lately had decent luck having zippers replaced at my dry cleaners that at least LOOK correct! So if you MUST replace it, at least that's an option...
I concur with Mary Jane - 1940s.
I was even shocked to see vinyl purses like this in some late 30s catalogs awhile back - I wouldn't have pegged many of them for 30's at all... so I suppose that's possible, too!
I'd say 80's -- tho Laura Ashley kind of did their own thing and wasn't exactly "on trend" lol... so I suppose it's possible it could be later.
Even still -- those looking for this style, specifically, will search 80's.
Good for you!!
It's rare that I buy anything new, these days.
I think the last new clothes item I bought was shoes - I have a hard time finding vintage shoes - and with my bad knees, I can't wear heels anymore. I don't seem to find much in the way of used size 9.5 flats. Every now and then, I'll...
Here's what the blue/green one looks like.
Found this pic a few years ago - apparently, Patricia Arquette is my doppleganger... AND she's wearing a vintage coat. :)
I don't know what this is from, though...
Very odd.
Why would someone fake a Frederick's skirt? It certainly wouldn't make THAT particular skirt more collectible..>?
The only more collectible Frederick's items would probably be their more "pin-up" looking stuff from the late 50's to early 60's. We have a catalog from 1963, I think, that...
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
For years, we've called this our "Twice a year" coat... because we pretty much ALWAYS get them, you guessed it, twice every year! Usually in this colorway, too... tho I've also had it in a blue floral, as well.
I've tossed mine in the washer on the "handwash/delicate" setting... I always use a fistful of those dye catcher sheets in every load... then hung to dry. washingmachineemoti :)
So far, no problems. Fingers crossed.
I didn't see if you said what the color was? Just that it had black & silver...
I'm with Nicole (& others) who felt 60's on this. If it were 40's, the collar would be much bigger, as well. Even 50's would have a bigger collar. In the 60's, collars get pretty small by comparison. In addition, you really don't see a whole lot of polyester in garments. In the late 50's it...
Vodka. And/or pet stain removers with active enzymes. Provied, of course, that you CAN get the item wet.
I've had good luck in the past with spritzing the vodka at the underarms until damp and them steam steam steam from the inside for a loooooong time. Let dry & check. Be sure to warm it up and...
