I am listing this later today and there are a couple of great things about it... first of all, I have the provenance! It was part of the trousseay of Lois Davis who married on January 8, 1861 and then moved with her husband to California shortly afterwards. Other than the SPanish women who were there earlier, this has to be one of the earliest fashionable dresses worn in California that is extent! And secondly, it has the HUGEST skirt from the 1860s I have ever had. I know of one other dress with a massive skirt but usually the real dresses from the 1860s and the illustrations of fashion dresses in period books never quite match up. I actually don't have a crinoline large enough to really show it off properly but it will have to do....
