1920's/30's? aubergine leather shoes / sandals with diamante buckles

Hello, I just don't know where to place the date of these shoes; overall style suggests 30's to me but these have much more pointed toes than I can see anywhere else and I wondered if they might be closer to the 20's with the cut work near the straps.
I don't know whether, with the closed toe piece, these can be called sandals? I'd think they're strappy enough but wondered where you thought the definition lay.
Although the light is pretty poor in this picture they are not black but a lovely aubergine purple colour leather, strangely though the inside of the toe straps are painted white - is this to prevent colour transfer to tights etc? They also have the original fabric lining stitched to the insole which is a thin brown shiny material - could this be silk? It is only worn and seperating just under the heels.
Lastly what do you call this fastening; the buckle you can see remains on the strap (though they can come all the way off, I'm amazed both are still with the shoes!) and to fasten it slips into a metal hook sewn onto the tab opposite that is not unlike the accessory for a strapless bra.
Can't wait for your replies!

These are mid 30s - they are D'Orsay pumps or shoes because they are cut down to the sole on either side. You could describe them as closed toe sandals. The bronzed kid is achieved by dying brown leather with cochineal - it's very popular 1890s - 1910s but I have seen a few pairs made of bronzed kid afterwards but its unusual. I suspect this pair were custom made - they exhibit signs of high quality like the satin sock lining and finished kid strap lining. That type of buckle closure was popular in the early-mid 30s, I don't think there is a specific hame for it.

Pinkcoke, since you seem to have a majority of shoe related inquiries, might i suggest you check out Jonathan's fabulous book, The Seductive Shoe, which is my first and favorite shoe resource? I guarantee you will LOVE it, it is loaded with amazing information and clues for dating footwear, as well as tons of eye-candy photos!!

Jonathan I wondered if they might be custom too as there is no hint of a shop name or maker's mark on the lining but then they do have the usual handwritten details inside the heel and stamped british size on the sole - would they put the size on a custom order?
When you say 'finished kid strap lining' do you mean the white part or something else?
Love the info on the colour, I did think that shade was earlier and couldn't find any examples of sandals this dark. It's good to know when that buckle was popular for future reference too.

Thankyou Mary & Joules, I have both books already! The A-Z was the first vintage book I got out of the library and what led me to this forum after searching on the internet. :)

I have another pair of pink satin sandals I think could be later 1930's but didn't know whether to put them in the same thread or a new one- if I'm wrong then they don't really belong together.
