1920s organdy dress, care advice please!

I have a 1920s organdy dress which has some stains and a generally 'dusty' look to it. It has also 'bent' up a bit because of its very stiff finish. It is a pale green with cream ruffles on the sleeves and skirt panels. It is also decorated with ribbonwork flowers.

How safe is it to steam or iron?

Should I attempt a soak or just give it a gentle vacuum?
I know I'd rather live with the very small amount of stains than potential colour runs.

Steaming will 'soften' it, but it won't get out the surface wrinkles. Organdy was made to be ironed, but it may damage it, if its old or brittle. Start with a steam and see what you think. I would try not to iron it if possible.
