1920s outfit help wanted

Hi all
Wonder if someone might be able to offer some help. I have borrowed an original 1920s beaded dress in pale blue to wear for a Charleston party. So far I also have some cream satin shoes in cream and cream stockings.
Could anyone offer suggestions as to what else I need - eg what sort of a coat would be correct to get me from the car to the party. I am also thinking I might do a headband or similar. What would people advise in terms of jewellery?
As the dress is very delicate, I am going to make a modern repro to use in future years so the same question applies to that set. Obviously I shall make everything "en suite" with this one and would love any suggestions about sources of patterns and what i should be looking at - assumedly a dress and whatever to be worn over the top plus bag and headdress.
I was thinking of tambour beading onto fine net with beads in gold and irridesent black and probably two underslips - one in gold and one in midnight blue to give the costume a bit of versatility.

You have alot of good ideas.
A coat would be dressy - silk or velvet and the same length or just a bit longer than the dress. If you search opere coat or opera cloak you will see many examples I am sure. Jewlery - long beads and dangle earrings are always good. Rhinestones were worn, and stones of the period can be channel set rather than prong set as well.

Bandeaus were popular, although combs can work as well. Period bandeaus are hard to come by, however.

What about a small beaded bag ( keep your lipstick and rouge in) , maybe a fan that is hard to know where to put it / carry and could get in the way.
What about wearing 20's style of makeup.
 
I have found a piece on u tube detailing the 20s style make up - not sure about a fan but I do intend to have a bag in the same bead colours as the dress. I actually want the outfit for theme events being attended by my friend's 20s jazz band so I need to blend in with his uniform of 3 piece dress suit, stand up collar and bow tie
