1920s Ribbon Help

Hi all! Does anyone have any clue what this is? It looks like a garter but has a hook on each end.

It certainly looks like a garter to me too and is it every lovely. Maybe it was from a wedding for the groom to remove from the bride?

That is what it looks like to me too, I agree with Maxine. It's rather nice to just have it unhook and not have to shimmy it off the leg.

Hi, it might be a garter but when you hook it lays awkward, not flat.

I don't think the hooks hook into each other, and I don't think it's a garter. I think they hook into a garment - perhaps the straps of a petticoat at the back, to stop them slipping down?

What are the measurements please: that might help.

Hi, it measures 17" long. At some point it had stretchy elastic.

Thank you: it's the right size for a possible garter, but I still don't think it is - and it's too long for a strap guard. Sorry, I'm out of ideas.
