I've had this a while and I've been meaning to show it off.

It's from 1930, although the label has a patent date of 1921. The patent could be for any number of things, like the type of knit. It's wool, and pretty riske' for 1930.

Label has the name of the store, but "Jantzen" is in yellow, and the diving girl is there to the right..

I'm getting ready to do a bathing suit timeline on my website using all the suits in my growing collection.

I have always liked the quality of Jantzen suits and no wonder that this one lasted as long as it did.

Thanks for sharing it Lizzie. I have seen a lot of 50s suits, and a lot of antique suits (in musems, etc) (just add handle bar moustache for the guys and parasols for the ladies) but not a lot of in between

Lizzie, I've always been fascinated with pics I see of women in the
early 30s and before with their woolen swimsuits! Actually, I normally
shudder, imagining the feel of wet wool on my skin.

Is this a fine wool knit? Is it lined?

It's worsted wool, just a little smoother than the shetland sweaters we wore in the late 70s! and NOT lined. I just cannot imagine wearing this to swim in.

It's great! Such a clear way of showing the progression. Lovely suits too - whoever bought that Leser got a real prize...

That's fantastic Lizzie!

I see an early 20s suit is on your wishlist, do you have a lot of other things that you have been hunting for? or do you know when you see it?

Chris, the thing I want most is a great early 30s with a deco design. These come up on eBay fairly often but they always seem to climb out of what I think I can afford to spend. And it seems that the more I want one, the higher it goes! The last really wonderful one went for over $300, and it was bought by a major collector.

I'm also wanting one of those satin 40s Betty Grable-type 2 piece suits. Adrianne had a green one a year or so ago that was very nice.

The 1911 one I just got. It was an eBay bargain. For some reason there was very little interest in it, possibly a too sparce description and only one dim photo. They also said there were numerous holes. I've found 2, both the size of a pencil point! I'd like an even older one., in a color besides black. I also want the bathing shoes and cap.

And these are just for starters!
