1930s dress - anyone heard of maker?

I've just bought a very pretty 30s silk crepe dress. The label says something like 'Maryola Williams'. It's a bit shredded so hard to read. Has anyone heard of this maker? Also, the label is in upside down, which is a bit odd. Someone once told me that means it's couture. Is that right?

I have never heard that an upside down label means couture. It often appears in coats, apparently so that when you slip off your coat the name of the designer is visible...

Hmmm, so does that mean that with this dress, when you slip it off, you should always have an audience so that he/she/they can read the label?
