1930s dressing gown mending advice

Hi
I have this beautiful men's smoking robe/dressing gown from the 30s I think. I have done some research on the label and the shop moved premises in 1942 so it definitely dates to before that time.
It's in pretty good condition apart from a small amount of sun fading and also an area of damage on the back of the lapel - the fabric has split and frayed. I plan to list for sale but do you think I should attempt any repairs before I do? I'm not the worlds best seamstress... If there is anything I can/should do, what would you suggest?
Many thanks in advance.
Emma

If you feel you are not up to repairing it properly, please don't attempt. A bad repair can make the problem worse.
If it were only the tear I'd suggest having it repaired professionally but with the other flaws I would disclose the damage fully and sell as is.

Thank you Melanie, you have confirmed my initial thoughts. I love beautiful slightly damaged things... Surely I can't be the only one so hopefully it will sell despite its flaws.
