1930s? Or 1940s?

This dress is handmade from printed silk with a short metal side zipper and a few buttons to close in the back.

I want to say it’s late 30’s but I’m not 100% sure.

Any thoughts?

Hi Emily, lovely frock: does it have sleeve headers or shoulder pads? If you can show a photo of those and the metal zipper head, it would be helpful.

On the available evidence, I agree with late '30s but it could be more recent.

The sleeves are fully lined but no pads or headers unless they were removed. The zipper is talon

Thanks Emily, the zipper looks more '50s to me, and the fabric (now that I see it closer) doesn't look like the late '30s-early '40s silks either. Can you please show pics of how the interior is sewn? Hems, seams....I suspect you have a lovely more modern garment made to an older pattern, which could also explain the unusual sash.
