1930s organdy dress - description help?

VFG Secretary
just trying to get some stuff listed before i head off down south next week.

i assume this is 1930s? side snaps, cotton organdy (quite crisp but thin, not organza or muslin)

so far i've come up with a (rather pathetic): 'organdy dress with 3/4 length sleeves finished with stiffened (net inner) cuffs and black velvet ribbons'

not very inspired, i'm sure you'll agree. so 1) am i right about what it is, and 2) any descriptive help?

am so braindead at the moment i can't even name the colour. palest yellowy green (keep thinking celery - but that's not it!?

help would be most welcomed..

The bell cuffs just give me a "bo peep" impression, though the rest of the dress does not. I know that is a strange thing to say.

Palest yellow green..could that be light chartreuse? or is it less yellow and more green - maybe a lily green, or a celedon (though celedon is a bit more neutral)

I think it is very pretty and a wonderful afternoon tea dress. I thought of Bo Peep, too.:D

It looks early 20s to me though, not 30s. THe deep hem is typical of early 20s organdy dresses. However, it looks to me like it is the lining for another dress... maybe there was a lace overdress or something...

thank you jonathan - will add that to my description. it came with a very odd lot of things.. the majority of which confused little old me so much that i put them straight on the shelf and promptly ignored them for 2 years :)

it does feel like there should be 'something else' with it - i'd thought maybe a belt, but an overdress would make more sense.

(and i will add bo-peep too!)
