1940s fur coat ID help

Hello
I'm trying to identify the fur of this 1940's fur coat (I'm assuming 40's, but do correct me if I'm wrong). I beleive the main fur to be ponyskin, but it's the fur thats used on the patch pockets, cuffs and collar that really have me stumped. The pelts are small, and when you run your hands over them they're ridged, but only on the pockets. If that makes sense. It's also super super soft. Any thoughts or suggestions on what it could be?
Thanks!

Yes, the coat has a label, but it's not any help with identifying the fur. I wish they put the type of fur on all vintage fur coats, lol! Here it is:

Yes, it is very very soft, some of the softest i've ever some across. I did have a look at the fur resource, but didn't really come up with anything. I does sort of look like the chinchilla, and I never even considered it could be sheared beaver, because i thought beaver was coarser? But i suppose that the shearing makes it softer?
Any more votes for either?

Thanks so much for everyones replies though, it's good to narrow it down some what.

Yes, i know it's two different furs, as i said on my original post i believe the main fur to be ponyskin. It's definitely not muskrat, it's a stiff fur, flat and glossy- definitely a 'skin' as supposed to a fur. It's the second fur that I'm asking about.

Thats another vote for sheared beaver, thanks!

abother vote here for sheared beaver. You can see the thicker, shinier guard hairs
