1940s hat...has anything seen this label??

Hello everyone! I'm on a hat spree lately!! My most recent purchase was this lovely brown hat that is a cross between a turban/beret/fez. I believe its from the 1940s? It's in excellent condition. Has anyone seen this label?? "The Fez; 504 Fifth Ave. New York." Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

It looks to me like a wartime turban but I have never seen that store label before!
