1940s? Housecoat. Help dating please!

hi
I've got what I think is a housecoat, it's full length, embroidered and heavy! It has one pocket on the right which I've seen before in housecoats from the 40s but other things make me think it's later. The buttons for one though I suppose they could be later additions. No label, no shoulder pads. Fabric is satin I think.
Anyway, I'd be interested in your thoughts. Sorry the pics aren't very good, had to take them on my phone and can't seem to turn them right way up.

Emma could you please fasten the garment and show it either laid flat or modelled so we can see the shape/outline and possibly the construction? It would also be good to see the complete lining.
If you upload the pictures to a computer you can turn them around before attaching them here.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Here are some more photos, again not great quality I'm afraid - it's a very gloomy day so not much natural light. Hopefully you can see how the back of the garment is longer than the front, making it quite 'swingy' when worn. It is ankle length on me and I'm 5'8" tall. Any more thoughts appreciated!
