1940s Jacket? Shirt?

Hi!

I came across this amazing jacket/ shirt and would love some help dating it as well as identifying it? I have a dress in this material that I was told was Rayon Crepe. Is that what this material is?

Also, is it a suit blazer/jacket or would this be worn alone as a blouse?

And lastly, can I get excited that it is 1940s? I love it regardless, but would love for it to be a true 1940s find.

There are no tags and along with buttons on the front are snap closures.

Thank you all so much!

Very nice. I agree with Mary Jane that it wouldn't have been worn with a blouse. Other options for wear could include a lacy low cut camisole peeking out from the neckline. I could see it paired with slim cut pants or skinny jeans.

Thank you, Maggie! I found it in a thrift store and then went to the skirt section hoping to find its mate, but no luck. Either way, I just love it and it will probably stay with me forever, just to oogle at! haha! Thank you for your reply!

Thank you for your reply, Donna! I agree, it is gorgeous! And no holes or stains or anything. I work from home, so perhaps a little dressy for my office, haha! My unicorn find I guess! haha!
