1940s or 50s velvet bolero

At the risk of spamming this forum, but since I'm here...I found a beautiful vintage black velvet bolero jacket with shawl collar and sequins at the thrift store. I am guessing 1940s or 50s but would love anyone's help if they can date it more precisely.

Fabric is black velvet, lining is taffeta maybe? It closes with a hook and eye mid-front. Some of the coating has rubbed off some of the sequins but otherwise it's in beautiful condition. Edit: no labels.

Thanks in advance!

The sloped shoulder and feminine, yet boxy shape tell me 60s. I also think this would be more flattering with a wiggle dress than a fit-and-flare. The velvet looks like a cotton velveteen. Before you attempt any kind of cleaning, better test a sequin to see how it reacts!

Thanks, that's interesting, it looked older to me but then I am not an expert by any means. Agreed that the velvet is probably cotton. I have not nor would I dare try cleaning it. It appears never to have been worn or worn very little. Sadly it is too small for me so I am trying to sell it :(

I think it has a dolman sleeve (no shoulder seam) - is that right? I could put it in the late 50s, or the early 60s. I don't think it's 40s.

Gorgeous, very wearable.

You are correct, indeed it does. I thought about including a photo that shows that detail. Here is one.
