1944 or Earlier Suit and Label?

That style back is very 1960's. What is the fabric? It almost looks like the jacket and dress don't match.

They are a match and definitely do not think 1960s. Possibly the dress will help.

At the top of inside coat to see the see thru fabric. The photos are not good but very hard to photograph. A deep Navy Blue suit.

I think it is late 40s or very early 50s and is designed for the older woman (matron) hence the label "key to youth".

Thank you both. I bought this about 20 years ago at a country auction. Never messed with it as it is a bit matronly but the dress itself is not. Is there a way to photograph this to not show purple? It is not purple at all but deep Navy blue.
The key to youth is funny. I could use finding a few keys.
So now we are from late 40s to early 60s. The book I am using is Vintage Clothing by Maryanne Dolan. On page 196 is one like it a bit with raglan sleeves. She stated 1944. Possibly I will just list it as 40s/50s. Thanks.

Hi,
I agree with a date of 1950s, but it is hard to tell from the photos. If you are referring to the Dolan book I am thinking of, that book was written about 30 years ago and there are quite a number of misdated items and inaccuracies in that book. Personally I would not use that book for dating, and there have been better ones written in the years since it's publication.

I am voting for mid to late 50s.
It looks very dark blue on my monitor.
