Hey! I need help dating & determining fabric for the top. I feel like this dress has a specific name for the style or something? Any information or comments appreciated :)

The fabric looks like cashmere kinda but it's not very soft, but it has that kind of "furry" feel there is a open type weave in it as well.

Lovely dress, and I agree it's early 60s--that silhouette, with a full sheer chiffon skirt that has a BIG hem, was popular then.

I had a very early 70s gown by Mardi Gras (in kelly green chiffon!), which had a label similar to the second one in the label resource, but without Lavino Verna's name. A 1967 article lists Jimmie Dougherty as the designer for a Mardi Gras collection that fall, at which point it was part of the "New York Couture Group", an association of 23 high fashion (ready to wear) women's clothing manufacturers.

So--I don't think you can assume that Lavino Verna was the designer for your dress; someone else may have been designing for the company in the early 60s!
