1950's Ball Gown?

I just picked this up from a yard sale and the seller had many 50's-60's pieces from her mom and she told me this was 1950's but it dosent have any maker label. It only has a union label and nothing else. It hasent been pressed yet in this picture but what do you think?

It certainly looks 1950's style, but it could also be 1980's revival. We would need further pictures of the lining and construction, fastenings etc. to be sure.
