    Anyone know what kind of style dress or outfit it resembles that was from the vintage age? Specifically dresses with a collar like this one has? Pointy.

    It suggests a Queen Anne type neckline. This sewing blog gives some history. Looking at your Flash Gordon photos, that could be imitated IMO by popping the collar of a vee-neck shirt. If you wanted it to be stable, you would probably have to add some boning.
