Hi, all! I have these 1950s glasses and I need the lenses removed. I don’t have eye insurance and am thinking about popping out the lenses by myself. Any tips? Will attach pictures.

Those are cute! I am not an expert on vintage eyeglass frames but I would be worried about cracking the plastic - vintage plastic can be brittle.

i only have my optometrist remove the lens from vintage eyeglasses; as Maggie suggests, the plastic can just snap and crumble.

Are you going to have your prescription lens put into them? if so, your optometrist would need to have them cut to size anyway. However, you may want to speak to your opt first to see if they'll even do it.

I have had success having tinted lenses with magnification put in '70s tortoise shell frames. And, I have also provided new sunglasses and had the lenses changed. There is always the possibility that old frames will crack or break. The work was sent out by my optometrist.- I would not attempt doing it yourself!

Likely going to put clear lenses.
