1950\'s L\'AIGLON dress --> cocktail ?

hello all,

can someone help me describe this beautiful L'AIGLON embroidered black dress ?

seems to me it's from the 1950's.

the belt has a few snaps underneath the bow detail and it has a back metal zipper.

would this be a cocktail dress ?

Connie, that dress is really sweet. I'd say it is a bit later, 1962 or 63. As for cocktails, it might have worked in some circles. I can see it going to dinner, definitely.

I agree with Lizzie, early 60s and dinner, afternoon
tea, church do, moreso than cocktails.

any help on type of fabric ?
