1950\'s Lilli Diamond Halter dress - What would you call this print?

Friday night and here I am working!
That's ok, though -- DH and DD are giggling in the living room and drawing pictures together... it's nice.

So... after realizing that simply having ribs removed would NOT allow me to fit into this dress, I'm finally going to list it.

It's by Lilli Diamond. Halter with an amazing bodice - the way the halter strap is attached it pulls the fabric from BELOW the bust, creating a kind of faux shelf-bust. Lots o' OOMPH!!

I have THREE questions for y'all --

1- What would you call this print? It actually looks similar to the standard prints you see on bandanas, doesn't it? But I"m not sure that's worth playing on with this dress.

2- What color do you see? Is this aqua? Turquoise? The print is in black and muted metallic gold.

3- Belt or no belt? I'm torn... I kind of like the waist definition... but I'm also really diggin' the pattern ebbing & flowing at the waistline!

Thoughts & suggestions appreciated!

Ohhhhh! :love008: I love that type of halter strap!

It looks a bit like a sari print to me, and I actually prefer it without the belt, which sort of looks like a period in the middle of a sentence. Aqua is the color I'm seeing.

Isn't it a drag about ribs??

wow! very sweet! i'd call it turquoise, (although the close-up does look more aqua-ish) and bandana print is a very correct description also.

i, too prefer w/out the belt, but its always good to show your potential client alternatives!

you guys crack me up! ribs! heh heh!:clapping:

Wonderful, thanks Gals!

Aqua is certainly MUCH shorter in the title department -- do you think it's close enough to get away with?

Sari -- I hadn't thought of that, Maggie! All I could think of was that it looked very.... ethnic? Exotic!

Thanks for your opinions about the belt -- I'll use mainly the pics without but include one or two with it..

I appreciate your help!!

Yes, aqua is good and yes, there is very much an Indian print vibe going on.

I like it without the belt OR maybe it would look equally great with a different belt, like something metallic and bigger maybe?? Something unique.

So, just HOW MANY ribs are we talking about here, eh? A few ribs out, an extra-strength corset.... it can work!
