Is there a way to tell if this is a 'real' vintage homemade dress or if it was constructed to be a replica?
Thanks alot,
Lauren

Generally it's looking at the construction and handling the materials.
Though they can be done now, older sewing characteristics include the tape used to finish the waist seam and wider seam & hem allowances. The boning casing on the bodice has either been designed to allow removal/replacement or I would think they have already been replaced. If they are the original bones, the type material they are made from would be quite different from the 40's/50's to the modern version.
Ultimately only you holding it will be able to make the final decision, but my opinion is it looks genuine vintage and homemade from what you've shown so far. It's very pretty and ball-worthy!

Looks right to me. Yes, if the boning is original, that would be quite a clue. It's funny, I'm just having another Barbie doll "flash back"... they had two lovely gowns in the earliest years with layers of tulle over a wide skirt, a bit like this one. One was red/pink/white. Can't think of the name right now though, as it's one I don't have in my collection. It also reminds me of a gown I bought for myself that should be asking about - only I don't know if I'll get round to post it today. So much to do...
