1950's Skirt Suit?

How about this one, 1950's, or 1940's? Do you think that is a store label? I couldn't find anything about it as a brand.

My vote is for right around 1950, give or take a couple years either way. I do not know that label. The dress has an interesting cut.

I found out a little about Nat Turoff - "Born in Russia on 1898 to Max Turoff and Pearl Hershberg. Nat married Bertha Leavitt and had 2 children. He passed away on 20 Jun 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.".

It could have been a store or a designer. Certainly I found several '50s and early '60s dresses when I searched for "Nat Turoff Chicago".

I would date your dress as very early '50s. It looks about '50 from the front but the blouson design of the back was popular further into the '50s.

I found references to Nat Turoff in this subscription only newspaper archive. The snippets you can read do seem to imply he's a designer. And they start in 1949 and go to 1965.

I love the taupe-y color and back treatment on the jacket!

The first few references in Ruth's link (from newspapers around or just before your suit was made) have Nat Turoff using menswear fabric or gabardine, similar to this.

Thanks for the input! It does feel like something of menswear suiting, very soft and fluid. Really nice. I think the color is pretty, but kind of bland. I can't help but think that if it was in some bolder color that it would make more of a statement. I have played with some accessories for it though, and they can really bring it to life. The cut of the jacket is just fantastic, and it drapes soo nicely!
