1960's clothes won on gameshow

Hi there,

I have a couple of complete outfits that my mother won in the 1960's on the gameshow Lets Make A Deal. Mini skirts with belts and matching light jacket If I remember correctly. They have never been worn and are still in the plastic, however they are dusty and show some ware from the elements over the years.

My question is what should I do with them? I really dont want to put them on ebay so was wondering if taking them to a vintage clothes store would be best, but im afraid that the girls working there have never heard of Lets Make A Deal.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Personally, I think you have a unique item that might garner a lot of interest on Ebay. If you can verify with some paperwork or similar that is was indeed won by your mother on the TV show, you can list it not only in the vintage clothing category, but I would also list it in the Entertainment Memorabilia category under Television or Wardrobe/Costume. There are some die hard Game Show lovers out there who I think would go nuts over those items, but you have to have some verification.

Thank you for the prompt reply, Barbara. I guess I was avoiding ebay because I have no idea what they're worth. I suppose they can be authenticated by examining the tags. However your reply made me think. Maybe I will try to find a copy of the episode. My parents won the Big Deal of the Day so you would be able to see them.

If you use the auction format, the marketplace will set the price. Just start it at a price you're comfortable with selling for in case there is only one bid. And if it doesn't sell, you still have your stuff. I agree that having the provenance should make a significant difference in attracting bidders.
