1960s leather shoe re-dying help

Hi guys,

I have a gorrrgeous pair of great quality (and pretty rare and desirable I might add) silver leather heels from the 60s, that have unfortunately picked up quite a few scuffs and scratches that polish isn't helping with.

I've found a dye kit from Tarrago, and also a company here in the UK that will do it from £25+. I'd obviously rather not pay for a service I can manage myself, but don't want to ruin the shoes if I mess up as they're so so fab!

I was wondering if anyone has experience with redying leather shoes, particularly in the metallic shades..?
:)
