I have what i think its 70s to 80s blouse. Alamode of california with union tag. Not help in dating just a question about a strange button placement.

I dont know alot about blouses as is

So its a long sleeve with a collar and v neck ....not a button up shirt. Definitely poly blend.

The sleeves are a bit baggy and button at the cuff.
So the question is......
There is a button just behind the left side of the collar but no where to button it to....what is this button for ? No remainders of a loop or hole for it to button to.

What do u think it could be for? Just an extra button? I dont have any photos but if anyone would like to see i can include some once i am home

Hi, can you post a picture?

Of course i thought i uploaded some last night. It didnt work.

I can't see a button. Could there have originally been a loop? It could slip out of the edge of of the neck facing without leaving a trace.

Probably it was a convertible collar. It could be worn open as it is now, or closed with the missing loop, giving 2 different looks.

I have seen vintage blouses like this with a button on each side which had an attachment, like a bow, could you see if there is any hint that a button was on the other side? A loose thread or a couple of tiny marks from the sewing of one.
