I was wondering if anyone knows what era this is from or any information if possible. It's in excellent condition and has original hanger and tags.

Hi Jodie, and welcome to the forums.

Can you please tell us more about what the tags say, or a nice (in focus) close up. In particular, I'd like to know what fabric it's made of, care instructions and country of origin.

I think it's fairly modern but label information will help. Thank you.

The outer lace robe is tagged Margot Lea - for Design by Margot Los Angeles, Ca. The inner tag for care says Dry Clean Only - 50%Rayon/50%Nylon - Made in USA. The inner gown has the same inside tag as the outer - there are no tags for care for this one. Other tags attached from designer says Seaford, North Carolina - fine clothing and accessories with a distinctive handcrafted quality. Design by Margot, Ltd. I posted another picture, hope it's better. Thanks

Thanks Jodie,

I think this was made by a small, local business and could be from the '90s or more modern. The design is a conservative one so it's harder to date.

Incidentally, I think it might be an evening gown or Mother of the Bride ensemble - lingerie wouldn't be dry clean only. Or at least, you'd hope not!

Thanks so much. I agree about dry cleaning lingerie but the inside piece though doesn't have a care tag and looking at it, it just really has the look of lingerie. The inside piece is almost like a satin feel (reminds me of satin ribbon) and the bottom of it has a beautiful lace attachment. I tried looking the business up on the internet and found nothing.

Info about the "Margot Lea" and "Designs by Margot" brand. Some resellers of "Margot Lea" dresses suggest that garments with her labels are true vintage 1920s, or 1970s wedding gowns whose designer now lives abroad. Not true! "Margot Lea" clothing is from the late 1980s through the 1990s for sure. I do not know if the company continued past 1999.
Margot Lea Evans DeBarmore was president and co-founder of "Designs by Margot" from 1988-1999. She's young! She was only in her early 20s when the business started. She now lives in North Carolina, but lived in California when she was younger. Margot got out of the "rag trade," and is respected and admired for her top-notch architectural designs and services.
My "Margot Lea" outfit was intended as a special occasion ensemble. When I enlarged your photo, Jodie, I realized that the dress style and the neckline lace are the same, but the dress fabric is different. Therefore, our dresses are not identical, but the intended use would be similar.
Special occasion. Party dress. As Circa Vintage said, it's wonderful mother of the bride ensemble. I think your outfit would be awesome as a destination wedding dress or second wedding outfit. I wore mine to cocktail parties and receptions. Other party-goers love the "Margot Lea" designs!!
Price? I know I paid under $200 for both pieces. I cannot recall if the pieces were priced separately, or if the ensemble was sold as an outfit. I also cannot recall if the items were marked down. I remember thinking the outfit was worth more. Well made, and beautifully designed.
