Needing a bit of reassurance on this 2 piece jacket & skirt made by saks fifth avenue. The jacket has an attached mink collar .

thank you so much for your help, the folks on this board are so very kind

The style looks like late '50's very early '60's to me. I checked the VFG label resource page under Sak's Fifth Avenue, and the closest labels to the one your suit has are from late '50's and early '60's pieces, which probably confirms this dating. Are there any other labels in the garment like fiber content or care?

It's great looking and perfect for cold weather.

Don't everyone laugh but it's been cool enough here for me to wear vintage wool the past few days! I realize "cool" is relative!

Aloha,

Linn

Wow, you (or your model) is rockin that suit!

I'm thinking Linn is on target with the dates. The little bit longer jacket and little bit lower neckline makes me lean towards 60's.

I'm also thinking Linn is smart to be in Hawaii - it's a balmy 6 degrees in my backyard right now. I'd need a lot more than that lovely wool suit to be comfy!

thanks living doll, but Im learing more earlier than 60s, this label is quite larger in size than normal

not sure though

I'm going to go with late '50s - it looks like it's great quality and I, too, really like your model/you - and the cute shoes!

Ladies, be glad you're in winter. Here we're having a heatwave - the hottest in a hundred years. Today it's 43 degrees (that's 109 for those of you who use fahrenheit) and it won't getting any cooler all week. Thank god for petticoats, is all I can say.

Yikes, Nicole -

That is hot! It's "winter" here in Hawaii now and we have had some nice cool nights - meaning lows in the high '50's or low '60's. I've been able to wear some of my vintage suits and dresses that would ordinarily be too warm. I'm hoping that the cool streak lasts through the weekend so I can wear my hat (and new '50's Lilli Ann jacket) to the opera. It's about 6:00 p.m. here now and the temperature is 71 °F. I realize that sounds very warm to most of you (but cool to Nicole!)

One of the reasons I asked about additional labels is that the pieces "should" have fiber content labels if they are post 1960 and care labels if they are 1971 and later. (This would apply to the second Pendleton suit that says see reverse for care - or something like that.) Of course sometimes the labels have been removed, but I do think the suit is late '50's.

I have found a wealth on information on the VFG site. Kudo's to all who gathered and fine tuned the label and quick tips sections.

Aloha,

Linn

Those little straight knee-length skirt suits with big buttons, and espcially with fur trims are typical of the early-mid 60s. You see them in catalogues as late as 1967 - not all women wore mod mini-dresses. This is typical of what an older woman would wear in the mid 60s. It might be as early as 1963 but the skirt is right at the knee which is more typical of 64 and after.

Thanks so much for your help John, but as I discovered while Im looking over this set, the skirt has been hemmed, there is 7" that can be let down.
