3 darling hats!

Hi every body. I'm not good at dating hats, the first makes me think 60s, the second and third 50s maybe? What type of fur do you think the third one is, there is no label in this one. Any way to clean them? The fur one is the dirtiest with some staining on the inside but other than that they were pretty well kept with only a slight musty smell. Thanks!

Judging only by the photos, they all look to be anywhere from the late 50s to early 1960s. First one, probably early 1960s but could be very late 50s. Second one, 1950s. The fur hat looks 1950s as well, maybe early to mid 50s. I cannot tell what type of fur it is, looks like muskrat but may be mink.

Personally I would not clean them, unless they have some really obvious dirt which I am not seeing in the photos. It also depends on where the soiling is...flowers, shell, lining, fabric covering, foundation, etc. The fur hat's lining looks more like it the dyes have discolored than soiled, and if this is the case there is not much you can do about it other than replacing the lining which would not really be worth it for that particular hat unless you want to keep it for yourself and it bothers you.

I would do something about the musty smell which to many collectors is worse than any minor soiling. Air them out on a few good sunny breezy days. I would not use Fabreeze unless the odor is too strong to overcome by other methods, and only if the hat is not of any real value.

They are cute hats!

Thanks for all the info! I'll let them air out outside. One more question, how would the first hat be worn? All the way covering the head or over top big hair like the beehive?
