3 Piece Suit - Mens or Womens?

I have this suit that I love (love the color) but I am really struggling on whether it is a mens or womens suit. I assumed men at first but it is so dang tiny that I thought it could have been actually made for a woman. It buttons and closes on the menswear side but it seems off for a man. I don't know if I could find anyone tiny enough. The waist of the pants is slightly less than 29". Size listed is 36C which I also have not seen on a mens suit.

I have shown on female manni and also on live model (also female). Once I got it on her, I shifted back to menswear since it is kind of boxy. I think I would have to ask the 12 year old neighbor kid to model if I want a guy in the suit. He doesn't seem excited at the idea...go figure!

Thoughts? I appreciate any ideas. Might just market as unisex but pics will hard.

Thank you all!!! Maureen

You should be able to tell by the way it buttons up.

Women=right over left
Men=left over right

I think that is correct! :BAGUSE:

Yours appears to be a man's suit, but it looks great on your model!

EDIT: Doh! I see you already considered the buttons!
I still think it is a mans suit. The tag S/B... single breasted is usually indicative of mens suits.

That is fly! Love it. I have a friend who's looking for something like this. Will you let me know when you're listing it wherever so I can turn her onto it?

She's a full cup US 4-6. Do you think it'd fit her?

Cool! I have to get to an appointment and will email you later today. Friend's in NYC... fingers crossed that this can work out. Her tailor is ready for the right suit and this could be it!

It's a mans, just a small. A 36 suit usually has 30" waist pants, but these could have been custom ordered for a really skinny guy. Or they could have been taken in. It's also a style and color for a young man, so the 36 chest makes sense, too.
Is it 70s? The lapels look right and I see flat front pants. If so, that makes even more sense given the snug fit of that era.

It's hard to remember when a lot of adult men wore size 36 and 38 suits.

From what I can find on Harold Tillman, I believe it is 1970s. It def. has the look too. I am thinking the pants might have been taken in a bit. I think Harold Tillman is the guy who bought Aquascutum but it has been hard to tell for sure. Looks like he did his own stuff early on. Suit is a really nice weight wool and very well made.

My person splitter is broken otherwise I would be keeping for sure. I love it.

Bycin - my model is flucuates between a 4 and 6 and is about 5'7 ish. The pants were perfect length once she put on killer high heel boots. She is probably an A or B cup and she has room in the chest of both the vest and jacket. Will tell you more via email.

Agree with the others: it's a small mans' suit, circa late '60s-early '70s. Quite fabulous - these sell very quickly when I find them as small men usually know they have to jump quickly and they look great on women too. I once had a chap buy every 36 suit I had, he was so excited (there were five, since then I can usually only find three at a time).

Thanks Nicole - that is actually very interesting. I wasn't sure how that would go. I think I am going to try to show both ways and market as unisex. Thanks so much all - I really appreciate the help!!!

I will actually miss this suit. It doesn't come close to fitting me of course but I enjoy looking at it. I just really love it.

Sent you an email. When you have listing info, email me back and I'll forward a link to my pal.

ps - it's 70s.

Just forwarded what I sent yesterday. Maybe it was in your junk folder? Anyway, just re-sent.

Thanks!
