30's or 40's Abstract print dress

I have come to re-own this gorgeous dress but was wondering if it's a late 30's or 40's. There is an asymmetric peplum to the front of the dress only, neck zip at the back and down the side, there is no label.

I'll pick '40s - does it have shoulder pads, or signs that they were there?

Great print. Would go nicely with your little handbag in the other thread, and a nice pair of chunky heels.

Sorry, no arms on the form I have at home at the moment. I have added photo 1 dress as is, photo 2 cinching the waist and photo 3 the arm. There is no sign of any shoulder pads having been used. Funnily enough I had sold it to a lady with the bag in the other thread for a 40's party. I am actually very happy they are back :)

Thank you :) it's very Kandinsky. It's very robust as it has been very much loved with a few owners. Bought as vintage in the 70's in London. On it goes again:)
