40's/50's/60's A. Sulka & Company Wool Scarf Dating

Hi all. Just joined a few minutes ago. I've been using the label guide on here for years, but now I have a question. I found a vintage Sulka scarf at a thrift store yesterday and I'd like to know how old it is. I've found two other Sulka pieces in my thrifting career, but neither as old as this one. It appears that they used the address 661 Fifth Ave, New York at least in the 40's, 50's, and 60's, and maybe other decades. I'm wondering maybe if this plaid pattern is relative to a certain time period? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hopefully someone else can comment on what the plaid pattern and colorway suggests about date, but the label is one that was in use during Sulka's lifetime; all the locations listed had stores by the time of his death in 1946 (according to his obituary in the NY Times).

Sulka opened the Paris location in the 1920s and a Palm Beach location shows up on 50s labels. I have a pair of late 40s shorts with the same label as this.

This probably isn't of any factual use but your scarf reminded me of Rupert Bear, which was a British cartoon character who wore a red top and yellow check trousers & scarf, and was first published as a comic strip in 1920.

Ha. I hope this scarf is from the 20's.

I doubt it's as early as 20s, but I'm wondering if it couldn't be early 40s. I know that Sulka designed an air raid suit in a bold plaid for the Duke of Kent in 1941, and later mass produced the design. Maybe they did other bracingly bold accessories around the same time?

Hopefully someone more familiar with menswear in that period can comment...

My first reaction was, "That's 1940's." But I have nothing to back up my reaction. Best wishes in your search.
