40\'s Dress, but what is the fabric??

At first I thought it was linen, because you can actually see a weave to the fabric, but it feels more light weight than linen would be in my mind.

Do you think maybe it is just cotton? It ironed very easily and it was wrinkled as hell!

Hopefully these close ups will be good enough for you to see.

This was one I was trying to show some storage dirt on but I think you can see the fabric better here.

Thanks for any input.

"Cotton is a plant fiber. When ignited it burns with a steady flame and smells like burning leaves. The ash left is easily crumbled. Small samples of burning cotton can be blown out as you would a candle.

Linen is also a plant fiber but different from cotton in that the individual plant fibers which make up the yarn are long where cotton fibers are short. Linen takes longer to ignite. The fabric closest to the ash is very brittle. Linen is easily extinguished by blowing on it as you would a candle."

I had nearly the same dress last summer...a little different shape, and mine was 50s, but VERY similar....mine was linen. Love that color! Ang
