40\'s Knit Handbag - Is it handmade??

Hello!
I have been meaning to post these photos for awhile but have been way to busy. I purchased this at the antique mall where I have a booth. I'm fairly certain its 40s, but not concrete. It is knit and there is gold shot into the tan parts. It has sweet square wooden beads and a drawstring closure. The bottom is clear and hard with a tortoiseshell type pattern. The base comes to a point and doesn't sit flat. Do you think it is homemade?? I just don't know enough about purses except, of course, that I love it! :spin:

The body work looks crochet to me. I would say it is homemade - could have been made from a kit. I LOVE it!!!

There are a series of holes punched into the edge of the plastic. The body of the bag is crocheted through the holes. Do you think the plastic is lucite??

that's adorable! I had one like it in black and white (with a white pearly plastic bottom--don't think it was lucite, which yours could be), but no sweet beading like yours... My understanding is that these purses were homemade.

Yes, homemade from a kit...love these! The ones I've seen have plastic, not lucite bases, and sometimes they have metal tips on the cords--love those crocheted balls!
