40\'s suit?

Hello :)

Came across another nice suit the other day. I'm less sure this one is 40s though? It is lined with a crepe rayon, and has front pockets. It's a wool fabric.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Such a pretty suit! Has it been hemmed up? The jacket looks rather long in proportion to the skirt length, and it looks as if the skirt has an awfully deep hem.

I'm tempted to say early to mid 50s on this, though not quite sure why....

Thanks! The hem is original, but it is around 4 inches, wow! Maybe it was custom tailored? The total length of the skirt is about 25.5 inches.

Here is the top of the skirt (I like the pleating detail).

I'm with Anne, it has elements of 40s but not "solid" 40s feeling~

Love the jacket and skirt pleating is cool - I wonder if the hem was taken up by the previous wearer - it is crazy deep (4 INCHES?) and looks like it is kind of "worked in" to fit into the area of the skirt it is stitched to.

Nice suit~

Beautiful suit!!! What a great find. I guess it's a bit of a cusper , very late 40s - very early 50s. Reminds me a little of my own suit which is definitely early 50s, and which I had first pegged at being late late 40s. Sometimes you really can't tell.
Love the skirt - it would be nice if you could let it down to it's original length.
