40's wool camp style shirt - reproduction?

Hello all :)

So, this is the first time this has happened but I feel pretty bad about it. I sold this jacket recently and then the buyer wrote and said it was a reproduction. Oops! (I should have came here first!). I thought it was a 40s wool camp style shirt. Although I did see it was in *excellent* condition. Also the silk lining is in very good condition too. There are no tags so I wasn't able to tell anything by that. There is also a "hook" at the top to hang it with and I guess I don't remember seeing those in vintage items very much if I remember correctly? What else... there are pockets in the silk lining. I can take more photos if that helps. The stitching, the buttons, anything else that you think would help determine the age of this? Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

I agree that it doesn't look '40s - the whole shape is a little "off" - it's a bit too fitted. The collar isn't right and neither are the buttons (but then buttons are commonly replaced). I agree that a hanging loop at the back of the neck is a modern touch and I'd also expect to see a rayon lining, not silk but you never know. Odd that there aren't any labels! You could have a look at the stitching on the button holes or perhaps the interior seams, but it looks like you'd have to undo one to see.

Thanks for the replies! I might try and inspect the stitches but most likely I'll just hold on to this piece for myself since I can't be too sure of the dating.
