60’s coat questions

This cute coat is by Arnold Constable - an upscale (and the oldest, now closed) department store in the US. The fur trim is very soft and I’m pretty sure it is mouton (I had wondered if it was sheared beaver.) It’s interesting to me that the ‘C’ in “Constable” is not capped. I’ll put this in the label resource.

It is a 60’s coat right? Seems rather “Jackie” mod to me. It has not been shortened.

There’s a little slit on each side of the coat, waist level, that is invisible from the outside. Was that for a belt?

Sure looks 60s to me with those buttons and the wrist-flaunting sleeves--sweet! And I agree with you that the slits are for a belt. I actually bought a 60s coat from a VFGer, with a belt that showed in the back, then tied invisibly in front (inside the coat).

I have been getting ready to list an Arnold Constable coat-- full-skirted & 50s--with this label:

It also has the small "c"--bet there's a story behind why they did the label that way...

I must have had it backwards. I had a coat with similar belt "holes" but I ran the belt through the inside of the coat at the back and tied it in front outside the coat. I suppose it could go either way?
