60s acetate - washable?

I have a early to mid 1960s dress and coat ensemble. It has a little paper tag stating it is 60% acetate. I was a little surprised to see the fabric tag because I thought those became the norm in the 70s, but anyhoo, is acetate washable?

I have washed acetate out of necessity, but it was unlined. The problems come with creasing and wear along creased lines, and inability to get those creases out completely. If it is just an unlined dress, nothing fancy (big name, high ticket) I think you're safe to hand wash and line dry.

What's the other 40%, though?

The other 40% is cotton. This makes me feel a little more confident about washing it. it is lined, not super fancy/high ticket.

One problem I have encountered with a lined dress is the acetate or the outer fabric drawing up. Never do they BOTH draw. I've ruined some very cute dresses...my speciality.
