Hi!!

Ok, hope you guys are ready for me to invade these boards ;) Anyhoo, I really adore this dress, too bad I'm not ever going to be the size of my mani! The best part is that I have heels & purse to match (bought seperate from the dress). The heels & purse come in their original box w/the original sales slip! I believe they're from 1958. Anyway, on to the dress... any input?

Thanks!
:)

Also, are the pics ok?

It's super shiny, and rather thick. I don't mean thick in the akward sense, where someone who feel constricted wearing it, rather that it isn't flimsy at all. I don't know what "slubbed" means?
Any thoughts on year & style?

You are right Chris, it is too shiny for shantung. I thought that because she used a flash it might look like that... By slubbed I mean tiny little lumps, like pills in the fabric. Its a rough spun silk so it looks imperfect but its supposed to look that way. Its so hard to tell fabrics from pictures. The dress looks 1960ish again to me, those princess line dresses with high waists like this one with the lace bodice are typical.

Yes, it is most def slubbed & def has shine & sheen to it, the camera flash didn't make it shinier or anything. I have a shantung dress, and while the material is somewhat similar, this one is much shinier.

What a fabulous early 60s dress! Looks like something out of Tatler or Queen Magazine! It's divine!

I would love to see a close up of that bodice!

You should add a link to your auctions in your signature line so that we can go and see them!!

It could be a acetate and rayon satin ( that would be a heavier weight with some stiffness and a shine)

Oh and I love the dress and really love your manni, her eyes and lips are gorgeous! I love the platinum wig too.
